8 Things Street Photographers Encounter

8 Things Street Photographers Encounter

there are certain issues that Street photographers may encounter but what are they but more importantly how do you deal with them number one you've arrived at your location and it's lifeless how to deal with it obvious innit get on your bike or something else wheels that is less eco-friendly getting interesting shots from an uninteresting area is as difficult a task as trying to eat nutty fecal matter or trying to like beaver – you want to take photos but you embarrassed shy fearful crapped your pants whatever this is the problem that puts off people from even trying street photography in the first place but what makes people shy to take street photos free people wary of you taking photos of them you know the moment when you look at somebody to take the photo and they look back at you point off-putting how to deal with it well don't act dodgy and try not to draw attention to yourself of course you have to actually look before you take the shot but longer you hang around more time they have to spot you try to be a bit subtle fail find someone else with something on the head keep moving look like anyone else walking on the street and swiftly and subtly get your shot in if you have to stand still observing simply don't look like a sex offender alternatively you can make it look like you're photographing something other than the person you want to take a photo of you can try keeping the camera held to your face even when the shot has been taken I'm sure a lot of street photographers don't want confrontation or something worse like someone deciding to tell you new are sorrowful anger how to deal with it simply apologize and offer to delete the photo I'll do it take a moment plant it my photo koala had a moment who did that show me a photo submit one more photograph it can take me fall on the street it just did it that yeah right so in an ideal pretentious world street photography is all about the understanding of human beings so in this situation is all right to empathize with another fleshy hairy human person on two legs just delete the photo and move on once you've gained a bit of confidence and you're starting to female Tate your shop you can see your subject about to walk in the frame you Asia Cairo and suddenly everything freezes like you and a bloody may trip without the shit's equals one thing you can do is to pre focus you can probably visualize where roughly they're going to come into the frame and then you focus on something near there so like a drain hole cover or something and those also help to stop it down to a small aperture larger depth of field more things in focus you know if they miss that market six wait for your Henri cartier-bresson decisive moment and the moment doesn't come come how to deal with it sometimes good things come to those who wait sometimes it just gives you hemorrhoids burr probably way up with the chance of it actually happening is likely or not don't fantasize about a shot that will never happen 7 you worry doubt you haven't got a shot how to deal with it don't worry too much about one single shot try not to chimp keep shooting if you want to improve your hit rate take more photos if you've seen contact sheets of some well-known photographer Street photographers it won't be a surprise to have one roll of film use for one subject and scene then they'll pick the best of the bunch one of the protons we've worked with said back in the film days a productive day will be to get one keeper we're rollin 36 eight you take your photo only to realize you've ended up with poorly exposed images set your camera up to suit the way you see things when you're shooting I use aperture priority because that best suits me as you like to change app to quite a lot when I'm out shooting on the streets because sometimes I want more depth of field sometimes selective focus sometimes I just wanna indulge in a bit okay whoredom so that's why changing the ISO well you just change the ISO to suit the lighting conditions it's just like film isn't it but there's nothing wrong with all two ISO or two ISO does the job for you and then a focus mode I usually have the center point single point AF focus and then reframe why because I know it's definitely going to be the center point every time but you know with good cameras you can actually just let the camera pick the focus points and metering you have to be incredibly careful it's always best to know the kind of lighting condition you don't want to be shooting a backlit subject no matter what metering mode you're using you still have to be aware of the lighting conditions backlit subjects etc it will still throw the camera off if you want to try street photography for sure you will encounter problems it's not all smooth sailing it's just that you have to know how to deal with certain situations be prepared and not get too caught up in the whole romanticism of a decisive moment there isn't any one single way to take street photos but there are certain ways to prepare yourself for making it a smoother process

Pro Photographer, Cheap Camera Challenge ® - Joel Marklund & Marcel Laemmerhirt

Pro Photographer, Cheap Camera Challenge ® – Joel Marklund & Marcel Laemmerhirt

phone photographer cheap camera challenge you know the school we take one photog we have one photo shoot and one cheap camera we challenge that pro to do a photo shoot with that cheap cam but today is different we have two photons to cheap cameras we have Joel – immature nice meme and we have Marcel how do we do Joel Markland is an award-winning photographer based in Stockholm but spends a lot as time travelling around while covering sports events like the Olympics Marcel Emma hurt is an action sport and lifestyle photographer from Germany his work of companies such as Red Bull for photo projects nice cameras you've got what have you got here yeah I got a Nikon d5 this is the camera I usually use for work yeah and we have the D 500 I like it but I've got a problem because you won't be using these carrots today I've got these also in Nikon yellow tube cameras is really an action camera it really is it's really good for action okay yeah although it says Kidizoom VTech I assume so I'm not sure I'd have run out of this exactly okay I managed to put it on sound it's like it's like an airport oh oh and you can have a monkey in the picture isn't it I would say it's a bit different when you used to work at 0.3 megapixels 1.4 inch screen 3 built-in games as a shutter button small light it's gonna be challenge absolutely it's gonna be a little bit of step down from the defy yeah the reason why I made the entrance is not because I like skateboards it's because we are here to take some action shots on wheels not wheelchairs as well as a couple protons we've got some seriously skilled skaters who spend all their time and money on skating I mean this guy couldn't even afford a t-shirt would you like me to look after your cameras please yeah I'll try not to drop it I uh I've got very safe hands there's actually no delay I mean that is quite good we're not trying to stitch them up on the thing we give quality stuff can we get that again I'm too quick for a camera can I get it again it's bleeding me I mean this case is which was shot in Hong Kong not as good as this not okay good now get the toys what what toys are we gay I have some toys some superheroes now Marcel said he's getting his toys done away means put toys so we take kill those guys in the sword Haven is that a frigging flying unicorn I thought it was yeah at first that week before it was one photog at a time they're just deep into action now they don't care ways to build an hour I always say yeah she sunset is less than two hours away they don't have long to get the shot and also the battery office knows Oh how do I get down there jump down easy this is vertical how do I get down there jump I have to get down yay Paco Marcel plays around with some foreground interest the flying unicorn of course and trying some different angles to create a visually striking shot it's good to know what we look good the photo how if the camera the only thing is like the camera has it's not that wide angle it's quite a bit clearly it fixed like 35 or 50 it looks more like 50 70 years but that's not the only challenge the skaters have to nail their tricks to all of these variables the only thing that is for sure is that the Sun will set in under two hours unless it explodes before them so with this is it there's no burst so no one shot one shot yeah that's quite tough to get yes I mean here so but the thing was that like when I learned shooting sports I'm quite used to tie my shots okay I rarely shoot the long burst of shots right so but I'm not really sure to really use to shoot skateboard I say yeah so so you're kind of like you shall be researched right now I'm seeing you know for every T Creek What did he say able to do so yeah let's see what's gonna happen I'm okay yes I fall twice okay I get I fall when I get down and I forgive me whenever I want to try going down there yeah yeah yeah yeah you see John before those minimal shutter lag but that wasn't quite the case when I press the image I see when I take the shot is not actually the one that turns up when I sleep to true the images so it's a bit confusing but I mean we have the shot here yeah time lucky for luck it's actually less it's actually less steep a lock are we getting in the frame though I don't think you're supposed to do that this is like a movie so encountering any problem so far yeah I can't say a problem but long lens yeah boring doesn't fit together that much yeah because everything is really small yeah and you know you can make stuff look way bigger with wide-angle right and that makes this food for me as a big challenge now but you're getting into it yeah when you're in crying to have you go it's always getting busy now two protons two cases and two idiots just going here can't get out now while joel is doing his thing Marcel was planning his next shot what else mm-hmm and he decides to overcome the slightly too long focal length by doing this stitch shot really close yeah around us Oh the first idea I do is exit the action-y and then I stitch around his frame so I get a little bit wider okay since they still esketh unit oh I don't think you know I don't think you need to change anything it says that I need to press actually before you get in the brain so like you see here yeah but you saw like because first I saw on the screen that he was here but then I see the final image and his lady so this is so weird this is like so he says shut up delays and then when it's safe their image that's another delay yeah this this camera is made to you know screw up your mind we do it again oh god this one has actually more delay than we thought because it shows you a nice picture but then goes you go to the menu and it's like a second later captures so we just rethink everything fast easy corner delay trend there's a tsukuda it was a great one but i hope i catched so now oppressed too early and he's not in the frame let's see if it's actually in the frame yeah that's crazy look the way that is bizarre yeah well the thing is if you trigger the pattern and you see a picture it's not the picture what you're actually saved yeah because it's a half second delay right that was like what I think with this camera the best thing is like to you know stuff you know like yeah life style poetry because it's real much more easier yeah action with the action camera the kids are don't want to get photographers does a zoom it says Kidizoom as well yeah we're soon or noise get money back yeah the best this disloyal scan really good but at some point it's gonna go behind that Bush tree thing yeah undone real that's I think you guys need really need to use these 15 minutes or what we have left yeah because after that it's gonna be hard yes that light don't but it's fading fast though because you like some kind of old school moves like yeah I think once we cut this hard you just go straight to the next one down which one had the flat down perfect perfect even the skate is have an idea of what you just said I look good with the light just do a try and I want to not shoot I would actually only look at you and see how do you have yeah I think we both know what we want to do but I think he needs a bit more error right perfect do you really popping out now the background is black and it looks really good I would like that I mean this is cooperation and between photographer and skater and he wants to compete to be as good as I want okay yeah the Sun is almost setting and the protons want to get that perfect shot it's all a matter of timing and the skaters clean up their tricks okay so that's gonna turn out really good but I need it again the board is like 90 degrees yeah to the surface like this okay yeah yeah it's not just about vision over the photographer subjects can have a good idea of what will look good too yeah we do one more I would like that we know the scariest looking at emedicine he suggests improvements and it gets better with the pro toxin skate is working nicely in unison things are going smoothly light situation not looking so sweet though so there's not much light left no maybe some portrait of us and you go a little bit to your left the the feets a bit wider so this yard yeah good and just look over there to you and I take this one just as a phone and it's easy with the Pinker and now for once I'll just look to me yeah cool Marcel was shooting like crazy man he's getting as many different angles positions types of shots as possible get more shots more to choose from Australian different shot you know having something's in the back in foreground and make it like a setting shot showing off it looks like around nice and that's a wrap but what did the photos look like I have to say these are some of the tightest thickest photos I've seen from a pro top cheap camera shoot ever strong looks with good poses foreground interest with amazing use of light and the variety and creativity Oh finally are you are you disappointed to be giving the Kitty zoom back you can have it so I mean for people we want to get into sports action kind of yeah I mean they won't necessarily have a d5 I mean what kind of tips would you give them to actually I don't think you need that much sugar caramel of course you need something else in this but I love you can do a lot of timings yeah which we saw that we could actually get some frames you know that was good time but definitely go for some good lenses yeah and and of course it will help with some camera that has you know at least five images second I think yeah I would have been helping here inspiring stuff gear is good we love gear gear makes things easier but it's nothing if there isn't the ability of the photographer first Joe and Marcel worked well with two talented skaters to create some striking images together the Kara was a challenge however having the vision but also the humbleness to understand more about a craft of the skaters as well as the drive to pull it off means a lot more than a top-spec Kara that just gives you that extra bit of polish boat optic camera challenge yeah only way to wife is fired taxi asleep in the taxi it is fun yeah fun time but it's really hard work hard times but fun times yes not complaining just that just thing that lot lot of glamorous man you know I see all these pictures that I would really really like to do with my yeah oh god only had shot on ud5 settle app it is a wrap pretty much

5 Top Film Cameras for Under $1000 feat. JapanCameraHunter

5 Top Film Cameras for Under $1000 feat. JapanCameraHunter

so yeah this is a very special analog Reve where we show you where to go for film cameras in Hong Kong but also top five picks for vintage all film cameras under one thousand US dollars over that we've got a special expert person expert Bellamy hunt a wise known as Japan camera hunter hello everyone all right let's go shopping yeah one thousand dollars about the cost of a decent DSLR if you have one thousand dollars to wisely invest in a decent film camera system body and lens which ones should you get Bellamy is a camera trader blogger photographer film lover living in Japan needless to say he knows his stuff about carers so what are his top 5 picks for buying film cameras the shopping arcade winning the Charlie Sheen shopping arcade it's got some n3 and – okay he's got like lots of plus $10,000 that's they're out and they're out it might seem like a big budget but if you want a useable classic or modern classic a lot of options are out anything with red dot isn't no go but if you want a rangefinder there is one left Mr Hunt highly recommends contacts g2 is difficult you see you can get one of these with a lens $101,000 and it is an outstanding camera either save the lenses on this as some of the best there it you know there are you know but again it's a case of this is camera that can't be repaired you really do need to hold hands with the seller and walk them down the beach and give them smooches to make sure that it's right because otherwise it's going to be an expensive brick more things go wrong with it just stops working it's fully level it's a fully electronic camera they just sometimes they just stop but one of the cool things about this camera is yes if it does stop working you have got the lenses you can have the lenses converted to mm so they do have an afterlife which you can do through me if say you've got the camera body and lens if the body stops working other lens is so good that you just say okay getting that body yes absolutely yeah I would say that yeah go out and get another body find another one it won't cost you that much money you can get a contact g2 with 45 millimeter f/2 from around $600 if you want a good solid SLR Bellamy's top pick can be had for way within budget oh there you go they call that free NIC on f3 yeah is 55 2.8 yeah it's it's an interesting lens it's a micro lens it's kind of cool not terribly expensive but really accessible and you're pretty easy to find it but this this would be my Pig there are a sub $1,000 SLR film cap has got loin meter it's got a light meter it's got you know aperture priority it's got everything you want on it it's tough it's whether seat well if you get the entropy on the press you've got the press version it's where the seal is this is back in the day this was a full-on pro camera this was about as good as it got what I like about this camera is right you've got your preview here so you can light up a finder yep right there's a place in Japan that does a hack for this because it only usually stays on for like three seconds and there's a place where you can hack it and they will hold it press the button at Stanford 15 seconds brilliantly which is really cool you know such a wonderful camera you can change the screens you know interchangeable screen so you can squids fighters you yeah yeah overall a really great camera so and taking apart like taking a gun apart it's what it feels like weapon it does it does you could probably get B to everybody for little over $100 up to over 200 for excellent mint condition ones the lens Bellamy went from micro nickel you can get one those for under $200 but there are loads of nickel lenses to choose from all of these lenses will work obviously they don't of the air the air won't work but they will still meet her they will still mount on your NIC one f3 all of them this is an Italian designed camera that you know is just gorgeous yes it's it's a utilitarian but but at the same time this piece of industrial design beautiful so this would be your s laughing personally this would be where I look and that's reason I'm biased because I have another top place to peruse and perv over film cameras champagne court as a few secondhand watch shops there but there's a nice collection of film camera shops that sell Tanna quality and rare stuff ah here we are all good friend all good friend Schemmel check out bling who's them gold owl yeah that's a even the lettin the leather nice touch there's no better way to invest your money than this yes unless you want meeting formats ton and then you would get gold once compact cameras $1000 is a fair wedge to throw on a compact thus there's lots to choose from so which one would be the best compact to go for and all good friend have tons of stuff lots and lots and lots of you got any contacts T 2 minus T – yeah right so you know there's a little thing about these cameras right it's all of the Japanese cameras the fitting was made for the 5 yen coin the Japanese marketing coin so it fits the Japanese side yen coin better oh yeah II okay right here we go the contacts t2 this is a personal favorite so this Auto reco you pick this I pick this this also cannot be serviced just like the reco brought but this is way tougher yeah these things are tanks you know I've I've had hundreds of them literally hundreds of them and of my personal ones I've never had one break down on me yeah and I've only had one that I've sold break down on me and you know yeah okay it happens but it's so rare whereas recall oh no it stopped working you know the context is i love whatever I've looked dents in the top plate look it has it's got a dent in the top plate and it's still working fine you know they're tough they've got a cool a Carl Zeiss 38 millimeter 2.8 lens on them right which is a nice nice focal length but it's beautiful like mrs. sharp it's it's excellent I would say this is one of the best components there is if not in the best toss-up between the t3 because the t3 is just that a little bit better so either way it's going to be a contest for me yeah yeah very simple to use it's usually autofocus but you can you know you've got your focus selector here in distance as well and you can select your aperture on there and your flash and stuff like that really that's all we need simple to use cameras cut it nice and smooth expect to pay anything from around $300 up to 500 for tip-top condition one in original packaging and what about medium format Pentax success yes but it's massive yeah the shutter is like a north thunderclap going off here Wow you can't be subtle in this camera you know people complaining about shutter slept with nex-7 let's try one that's the original shutter slap so that a seven it's a huge camera it's a very heavy camera you don't really want to lug it around all day long but what is that guy using lugging around diverse that's how I like my cameras ranked like that that's why I drop them one time also got a lot of variations on the camera on the lenses lots of different versions so you really kinda had to know the system you have to know what you're looking for it takes a bit of time and learning how to use the camera as well it's a hefty beast the body was standard 105 millimeter lens and metered prism ways of wrist snapping 1.7 kg but that 6-7 setter would cost you around $800 that's a lot of care of your money one last recommend if your right to blow your whole budget on one yeah now here's a good rangefinder foot under $1,000 if a canopy or the Canon seven but you can also if you're lucky and you look you can find a Nippon s and s – not obviously this one but you can find them for hundred thousand dollars with a lens usually I think that is a better choice than the Gannet I would be inclined to agree personally I would say go and get yourself a nikon rangefinder and you really wouldn't regret that decision I don't think and the the the rangefinder lenses yes the con rangefinder lens is a gorgeous just gorgeous but Nikon is a way of getting into rangefinder and then finding yourself spending way more than $1000 very very quickly yeah Nick honours range finders are pretty special and probably a rarer sight than a Leica there are loads of stupendously good film cameras out there to be bought the only trouble is having the money to buy all of them there are some practical choices some cheaper choices some rarer cameras but if you want a camera that is good to use good to collect and are classics in their own right you should definitely consider Bellamy's top 5 picks you you
